Iliac arteriotomy secondary to IR pigtail catheter cannula placement, Dr. Obieze Nwanna-Nzewunwa.

Orthopedic foot wounds and infections, with Dr. Josh Vaughn, Orthopedic Surgery.

Dr. Vaughn's talk will help us identify common foot ulcerations/infections amenable to non-amputation interventions and identify and differentiate urgent vs non-urgent foot and ankle infections/ulcerations.

We will be discussing a podcast, "Surgeon Atul Gawande wants everyone to have a coach." Per Dr. Nolan, below are some themes we will explore:

  • The notion of investing in primary care v. surgery in the future state of health care
  • "Detaching ego and outcomes" to deal with adversity
  • Contributing to something "bigger" than surgery
  • "Empathy distress" and burnout
  • The value of a coach
  • "Say yes to everything before you are 40"
