Dr. Carrie Cunningham is a general surgeon at the MGH, outgoing president of the AAS, former professional tennis player who played in the grand slams, MPH; an incredibly accomplished individual. She chose to use her Presidential address to discuss her own personal struggles with depression and addiction. She also chose to dedicate the talk to a friend who was a surgical resident at the Brigham who committed suicide during residency. That individual’s sister, Jill Barkley, lives here in Portland and has spoken to physician groups about her sister’s suicide and the lessons learned from it. We are going to show some clips from Dr. Cunningham's Presidential address and then Jill Barkley will speak.
